A portrait of WeonRhee(Mono).jpg

b. 1994 in Yesan, KOR

My artist name is Weon Rhee, but my real name is Jong won Lee. Weon Rhee is derived from my real name, Jong won Lee, with "won" and "lee" being old-fashioned spellings. It encapsulates my identity as an artist who draws inspiration from the past.

I am an artist and designer based in Seoul, Korea, specializing primarily in functional art. Utilizing my heightened sensitivity to sight and touch, the majority of my work unfolds through direct engagement, reflecting a deeply personal, sensory-rich, and exploratory approach. Building upon these tendencies, I endeavor to introduce novel ideas by delving into the cultural, historical, and societal landscapes of my upbringing, always striving to incorporate fresh materials that resonate with my aesthetic sensibilities.
